Printing in Cancun

With more than twenty years in the market, Grupo Regio´s evolution has been the result of the Directors’ (Gerardo Treviño and Francisco Garza) tenacity to become the Image and Communication Corporate leader in Southeast Mexico.

Grupo Regio was created in April of 1991, in 60 mts2 office with 2 employees and a total investment of 40 thousand dollars. In the beginning we started operations with 2 small machines and the next year we acquired larger equipment to make color projects. Over time, the business was growing, and were achieving a very important presence in the local market.

With the financial support of our own group participants, in 1995, we acquired the continuous forms machine, and in 1996 we invested in a 2 color fine printing machine. Since Grupo Regio has become such a competitive option, businesses now have the choice to keep their projects in Cancún instead of sending projects to México City, Guadalajara, Monterrey and Miami.

Later, it was possible to work in other states in the Mexican Península, such as Yucatán, Chiapas and Campeche, primarily working on printing tourism promotional materials.

As a result of the company growth, in 1998 we faced a new challenge: The paper material supply. Because of this challenge, we acquired direct distribution from the Manufacturers, we created “Abastecedora Papelera de Cancún” (Paper supply of Cancún). With this we achieved competitive prices and a higher quality paper supply in the Península.

The design was another challenge that we had to face, so we also created “El Despacho” an independent company that now has been fully integrated into Grupo Regio Business.

The demands of the market created the necessity to offer a complete service where we started offering marketing services, publicity campaigns and complementary market research.

The necessity of continuous investment in technology was imminent, so in 1999 we bought a 4-color machine and subsequently we acquired more machines to satisfy our client’s needs: digital printing equipment, prepress, machines specialized in the finishing process and vehicles to deliver our work.

Grupo Regio is an integral business that participates in the entire project: concept, design, editorial, printing, marketing and distribution.

The editorial area creates the “Medios turísticos” that develops magazines like “Travel Planner AMPI”, “Mexican Caribbean Real Estate Guide” and “Mexican Caribbean Golf”, that were made in alliance with the corresponding associations, and 100% under the production of Grupo Regio Marketing & Printing.

2002 was a difficult year. We achieved our production capacity, and as a consequence we weren´t able to generate any more clients. We realized that it was necessary to have more space so that we could offer more to our clients and resolve their image and communication needs.

That is why we started the project to built our own 8600 m2 industrial plant, where we placed together all the Grupo Regio´s participants under the same roof. This fact represented a huge investment, but we efficiently integrated all the participants that are part of Grupo Regio Marketing & Printing.

After 20 years, what 2 people started as a dream, is today an enterprise with 150 employees, more than 1,500 clients, 4 editorial publications with 300 thousand annual copies and a reserve of 10 thousand images.
